The Canadian Tourism and Human Resource Council wanted to move a selection of their paper-based courses over to the online environment. They knew that in order to reach more potential learners, and in order to provide self-directed, dynamic learning, they needed to have interactive courses. Their clients would be able to learn at their own pace, but with all the interesting opportunities that a web-based product provided. The courses should be manageable, and be able to speak to the targeted users, be they housekeepers, tourism supervisors, or reservation sales agents working from the office or at home.
Motivating the reader
Donat Group knows that it is a no simple task to move a paper course online. Our Instructional Designers and Interactive Designers worked hand-in-hand to produce lessons, units, modules, and courses that not only met, but exceeded the CTHRC’s expectations. The courses, while pedagogically sound and extensively user-tested to ensure they met the needs of the learners, used a variety of Javascript, Flash, video and audio technologies to keep the reader interested and motivated.
These courses have met with great success, and have earned Donat Group repeated contracts with the CTHRC.
