Donat Group was approached in 2004 to do a content and site audit for the Procurement and Supply Services site, a part of the BC Provincial Government. It was an umbrella site that housed 8 different websites, and the client recognized that there were navigational, design, and content issues impeding a visitor’s use of the site.
Building Usability
In order to build ease of access to the information on the sites, Donat Group performed an extensive content audit. We also created user profiles and personae to document the benefits and limitations of the existing site. After an exhaustive Needs Analysis process, we were able to identify a clear set of guidelines that needed to be followed in order to create the kind of website that would be successful for the government.
We were only contracted to do the needs analysis, but they were impressed with us enough that, a year later, the same division of the government came back to Donat Group to ask us to start implementing the rebranding and restructuring of the first part of the site. We have since been contracted to do the next phase of development on our site as well. It is wonderful to know that our clients can rely on us, and in turn, reward us with continuing contracts.
