Workshop Synopsis
Competitive Advantage: E-Learning Specifications and Standards
Vancouver Convention Centre October 13 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
More and more, purchasers are looking to e-learning products that are
interoperable using open standards. They want to:
- improve the choices that reduce their risk;
- implement durable solutions;
- obtain flexibility; and
- benefit from quality.
For vendors, open standards help to consolidate a larger customer base.
Instead of picking the portion of customers using the proprietary
standards the vendor is equipped to support, the vendor can offer
products and services to a larger consolidated base of users.
Both vendors and purchasers need to be aware of developments, not only
with respect to standards but also with respect to the specifications
that will be the basis of future standards.
Learn more about the implications to your business or organization of
such terms as "reference model" and "application profile" and acronyms
such as SCORM, IEEE LOM and more. More importantly, learn how the
substance behind these terms and acronyms can help your business.
On October 13, an Industry Canada-sponsored workshop will take place at
the Vancouver Convention Centre to introduce Canadian e-learning
developers to international open specifications and standards aimed at
facilitating interoperability among e-learning technologies.
The Agenda will cover:
- Overview of the current state and future of the "world of specifications and standards"
- Why Standards - The Business Case
- Lessons learned; best practices
- How to get involved or obtain more information
